Heroes World Tour

Yesterday yours truly got to attend the Heroes World Tour signing event at 30 Rock and meet the various Heroes (and villains) that populated the Monday 8pm/9c timeslot. Zachary Quinto (Sylar), Noah Gray-Cabey (Micah), Dania Ramirez (set to play a Hero named "Maya" in Season 2), James Kyson Lee (Ando) and comic legends Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. They were there promoting the Heroes DVD release, as well as the September 24th return of the show to NBC.

Without further ado, witness my amateur photography:

Sylar from afar. Check Quinto out in one of the many Heroes interviews.

And up close.

Micah signs a DVD boxed set. According to his bio, he's a trained classical pianist, and the youngest person to have performed at the Sydney Opera Hall (he's 10).

Ando and Maya

Heroes artist Tim Sale (other credits of his include The Long Halloween, a.k.a. the best Batman comic evar). Check out his Heroes art gallery.

Heroes co-exec producer and writer Jeph Loeb (who also wrote the abovementioned best Batman comic). Watch him in another of the many Heroes interviews.

Blog Cabin Outake- Grin and Bear it for the Camera

DIY Network series Blog Cabin is no mere walk in the woods for host Amy Devers. Building the log cabin is very hard work indeed, and it means lots of exposure to scratches and scraps.

Amy makes the best of it, and keeps up her smile through minor irritations like the first of many, many splinters in this clip.
logcabin
She is a veteran in front of the camera after all, with her hosting experience on DIY to the Rescue & Freeform Furniture.

See more of her perk and gumption on Blog Cabin Thursdays at 9 pm Eastern/Pacific, only on DIY Network .

Blog Cabin Outake- More Fun in the Woods

DIY Network series Blog Cabin gives host Amy Devers lots of opportunities to try building techniques she's never used before. Since she's doing it all in front of the camera, the pressure is definitely on.

Amy has strong training in furniture design, and considerable hosting experience under her belt from DIY to the Rescue & Freeform Furniture.

Amy is certainly game for building challenges, and she likes to crack jokes that play on just how much she might seem out of her element. Faced with welding for the first time, Amy kids that it will harm her aura. See how much the crew working with her crack up over this.

Tune into Blog Cabin Thursdays at 9 pm Eastern/Pacific on DIY Network and catch all the fun.

Blog Cabin Outake Video- Bugs Get to Host

DIY Network series Blog Cabin sends host Amy Devers (star of DIY to the Rescue & Freeform Furniture) into the Smoky Mountains to build the log cabin viewers voted on. Amy describes herself as a “city girl” and she is in for some big surprises about not only the building process, but also the realities of being out in the woods.

Seasoned builders are there to lend a helping hand and answer Amy's questions. They don't always ease her concerns though. In this clip from Blog Cabin the builders try and fail to reassure Amy about how to survive infamous chigger bugs. The rather uncomfortable solutions the builders share to get rid of chiggers include covering your skin with nail polish.

&lt;br&gt;&lt;a href=”http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/pac_ctnt_988/text/0,2829,DIY_24936_57710,00.html”&gt;logcabin&lt;/a&gt;

See how Amy fares on Blog Cabin on Thursdays at 9 pm Eastern/Pacific on DIY Network.

Balls of Fury clips: exclusive preview !

NBC Universal just sent over exclusive preview clips for their ridiculous new movie "Balls of Fury", about the brutal world of underground Ping-Pong tournaments, and I thought you would enjoy checking them out:

Lucky Cricket

Randy vs. The Hammer

Since this is an exclusive preview on DotComedy and NBC Universal won't be showing these scenes on TV, the only place you can see them is on the site. Seriously, who isn't excited to see Christopher Walken play an evil ping pong overlord?!

Win the Blog Cabin from DIY Network- Sweeps Now Open

DIY Network is getting ready for tonight's premiere of the new series Blog Cabin (9 pm Eastern/Pacific) by opening a contest for a lucky viewer to win the stylish log cabin featured on the show. Viewers can visit the Blog Cabin sweepstakes daily and submit one entry per day between now and October 1, 2007.

Earlier in the year, DIY Network offered viewers a unique chance to vote online on the complete design of this log cabin that a lucky winner will get to call home. Viewers decided everything from the location to the floor plan to the landscaping.

People responded enthusiastically to the call: more than 4 million votes were cast. The contribution of viewers didn't stop there- DIY Network gave bloggers a front row seat on the construction of the cabin and the filming process. Bloggers even had a key role in catching a pretty big oversight the building crew made.

Check out Blog Cabin Thursdays this fall at 9 pm Eastern/Pacific on DIY Network. See the cabin built in less than a minute with a special time-elapsed Blog Cabin photo and take a 360 degree interactive Blog Cabin tour.

Tin Man: This Ain't Kansas

In December, SCI FI's re-imagining of the Wizard of Oz, Tin Man will hit the small screen, starring Zooey Deschanel as DG (that's Dorthy Gale), Neal McDonough as the titular Tin Man, Alan Cumming as Glitch (the Scarecrow), and Raoul Trujillo as Raw, the re-imagined version of the Cowardly Lion.

As a teaser, SCI FI's produced a comic book in partnership with Virgin's publishing arm, and they've graciously shared a preview of the product with us. The cover shot is featured on the right. The Tin Man (who's name is Cain) is on the far right--he doesn't look especially Tin, right? Well, in The OZ (that's the Outer Zone), "Tin Man" refers to a sheriff of sorts: Tin badges, get it?

In addition to the comic, there's also some video on the SCI FI site, like this Tin Man teaser.

National Geographic Channel: Taboo Widget

How Taboo are you? Find out with this thought-provoking widget 360i created for the National Geographic Channel:

&lt;a href='http://www.nationalgeographic.com/channel/taboo/'&gt;Taboo - explore different cultures and customs&lt;/a&gt;

Season Premiere: National Geographic Channel's Taboo opens eyes

The season premiere of Taboo on the National Geographic Channel is almost here! Taboo is an hour-long program that challenges the way we look at other cultures and ourselves, by exploring practices that are completely normal to their participants but are considered brutal or barbaric to many of us today.

This season of Taboo premieres Sunday, August 5th at 9pm et/pt with following episodes airing Wednesdays at 10pm. NGC has posted some really compelling and graphic video preview clips which I'm sharing below. I have to warn you, the clips are pretty intense.

This clip explores a ritual that brings tribal boys into manhood, by having their skin sliced thousands of times to create scars that resemble alligator skin:

This clip explores a group called the Hanged Men, who come together to swing from the ceiling by having sharp hooks pierced through their flesh:

Future episodes focus on Body Modification, Sexual Identity and Nudity.
